So, we were celebrating the last day of school at a friend's house. We had a campfire, s'mores, a ton of kids.....and an injury :*( My youngest set her marshmallow on fire because she likes them burned. She lifted the roasting stick to blow out the marshmallow and it fell right of the stick and landed on top of her bare foot! Oh the screaming! I'm sure it hurt, the hot sugar burning her skin. I wiped it off with my shirt as fast as I could and we rushed to the kiddie pool to put cool water on it and wash the hot marshmallow off. She cried and sat on my lap (soaking wet because she had been swimming moments before). She finally started to feel better and I thought great! She'll spend the night at her friends after all! But sadly, the teenie tiny blisters appeared, and there were tears all over again. We limped home, put some aloe on her foot, and we snuggled in bed together. All is right with the world when I can keep them safe in bed with me and make sure they are fine all night. Update: This morning all of the redness is gone and there is only one blister the size of a pinhead on her toe! All smiles and ready for the next adventure! |

So much to do so much to see So, since it was Father's Day Weekend, we decided to go crazy and keep the old man movin'......
First, Friday night we meet my hubby at a parking lot before he even got home from work and scurried him off to a Riversharks Game for our Church Fundraiser. We had a great time with a small but mighty group that was not afraid of the thunderstorms! The sharks lost, but we managed to psych out the designated pizza batters so we each get two slices of Ciconte pizza for showing our ticket stubs! Of course since it was a Friday, we saw the fireworks show too! Home run! :) The game was delayed because of the rain we've been getting so by the time the fireworks were over and we made it home, it was about 12:30 am. We all slept in late and had a leisurely day filled with relaxation..... HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! no. We woke all the kids and dog up at 4 am Saturday morning and we headed to the beach to see the sunrise! This is one of our favorite things to do. We love going to the beach before dawn. There are so many things to see (we take the back roads too) it's so beautiful, it's not too hot and there are no crowds... We are home before noon every time which leaves us more time to pack in the fun! There were nice sea shells, tidal pools, sunrise, and live horseshoe crabs. We originally thought we were helping them by putting them close to the water, but they may have been in the mud for mating season. Oh well! Leave it to kids to interrupt a fun night! ;) Did we sleep when we got home around 11:30 am? Well, some of us did. I let the hubby sleep and the teenager rolled into her pill bug position and disappeared for a few hours. The two younger girls watched tv with a blank stare until it was time to go to a girl scout pool party then we were off again! We returned from the pool party, made & ate dinner then the teenager went ice skating (of course we were "the bus" so there were a few extra kids to entertain and we always blare the music). |
